The Terrible Trio
There are currently three playable demon types at UP.
AbyzouIntelligent and tricksy in equal measure, Abyzou's often come to adore the material plane. These demons can be impatient and temperamental but they have a clear idea of what they want and find great joy in plotting how to fullfil their goals. They are the hedonists of the demon world, seeking pleasure at every turn. The type of pleasure they seek varies from one individual to the next; some delight in physical pleasures, others in feeding, others still in causing mass chaos and panic. The gifted individuals are most often drainers but magic users of other types are found in this caste. Some Abyzou's find homes amongst the highest of humans, but most are content seeking their pleasures in the shadows where they are less likely to be discovered. Around others of their kind they are playful and mischievious jesters, and the Demon Lords sometimes keep a few of them for entertainment. They are the type most likely to form innappropriate bonds with humans, which often leads to them being punished by the Demon Lords.
The natural Hellform of an Abyzou is small and compact, usually only averaging four feet tall. They are quadrupedal but able to walk upright with some effort and their face is similar to a dogs in appearance. Their hide is often (but not always) brightly coloured and covered in either soft leather-like scales or downy fur. Most have long slender prehensile tails. Some have horns that vary in size and shape between individuals. They have long retractable claws and fangs.
Life stages: 0-150 infant, Hell only. 150-250 youth, visits to Earth only during Hellgate openings. 251 - 425 young adult, prolonged visits allowed but must report back at least once every six months. 426 - 1000 adult, free roam. 1001+ elder, Hell only.
BelphegorBelphegor's are the most highly strung and temperamental of the three types, prone to erratic behaviours and almost animalistic mannerisms. They tend to prefer to be in a large group of others of their own kind and do not socialise well with the other castes, who tend to view them as primitive and less worthy. However, they can be exceptionally intelligent and often find very comfortable homes on the material plane as traders and back-alley businessmen. Some of the gifted individuals even devote themselves to magic study and can become highly successful trickers and con artists, but most lack the patience and conformity to rise high in what remains of civilised human society. These are the type most likely to leave an obvious trail of destruction in their wake.
Their natural Hellform is that of a tall and powerful beast with six legs, standing around ten feet tall at the shoulders. They have long necks with huge heads filled with razor sharp curved canines and their thick hide is grey or black. All have medium-length sturdy tails. They make agile and ferocious fighters, and in a straight battle they could easily take on any of the other two demon types.
Life stages: 0 - 75 infant, Hell only. 76 - 125 youth, visits to Earth only during Hellgate openings. 126 - 250 young adult, prolonged visits allowed but must report back at least once every six months. 251 - 750 adult, free roam. 751+ elder, Hell only.
ManahIntelligent and aloof, Manah's are the infinitely patient and observent members of the three castes. Usually employed by the Demon Lords as spies and informants, the Manah are dedicated to the destruction of the Material plane through more subtle tactics than fire and brimstone. They often come across as arrogant and are mostly untrusted by the other castes, but they get along well with others of their type and they enjoy sharing information and learning from one another. Not at all fighters by their nature, Manah's much prefer to watch the chaos rather than take a front-line part in it. However, they are hugely intelligent and methodical and are easily able to control a battlefield and make the most of the less mentally asute demons under their command. They make the most powerful of casters and many have a particular love of necromancy and the other dark arts. Masters of manipulation and subterfuge, Manah's quite often find very comfortable and profitable homes amongst the highest ranking humans.
The natural form of a Manah is tall (around 7ft when fully grown) and slender, bipedal and almost skeletal in build. Their hide is pale coloured, their faces small and almost ape-like and mounted on long necks. They are tailless but some individuals do have large black wings that enable flight although most rarely use them. They all have dozens of tiny needle-like teeth, and many have long finger-like claws.
